Missouri Legislature Adjourns

The Missouri legislature failed to advance SAN-supported legislation in 2023 prior to the adjournment of the session. To follow is a brief summary:

  • Legislation (H.B. 590) to exempt the sale of vehicles that are at least ten years old from the state and local sales tax. This bill would not apply to vehicles with a sales price of more than $25,000. Currently, no exemption from the state and local sales tax exists for vehicles that are at least ten years old. The bill passed the House committees, but the full House failed to advance the bill prior to the adjournment of the session.

  • Legislation (S.B. 221) to allow the display of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for all passenger vehicles. The bill also applies to personalized plates. Under current law, vehicles must display two license plates. The Senate Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety Committee failed to consider the bill prior to the adjournment of the session.

Thank you to everyone who voiced support for these efforts.
