Vermont Legislature Adjourns
The Vermont legislature failed to advance SAN-supported legislation in 2023 prior to the adjournment of the session. To follow is a brief summary:
- Legislation (H.73) to repeal the law tying the state to California’s motor vehicle emission standards. Under current law, sales of new gas- and diesel-powered vehicles will be banned starting in 2035.
- Legislation (S.64) to reform the state’s existing exhaust noise laws. The bill, which includes elements of SEMA’s model legislation, would implement a fair and objective method for determining compliance with the law.
These bills are eligible to be reconsidered during next year’s legislative session.
Thank you to those who voiced support for these bills.
