Alaska Signs into Law Single Plate Bill
Alaska, rejoice! In a favorable outcome, Governor Mike Dunleavy signed into law a SAN-supported bill (H.B. 163) allowing the display of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for all passenger vehicles. Under the previous law, vehicles were required to display two license plates. The new law is estimated to save the state more than $300,000 per year.
Earlier this year, the legislature failed to pass a separate single plate bill (H.B. 166). However, on the final day of the legislative session, the single plate bill’s sponsor added it to another proposal to allow electronic signatures on vehicle title transfers—which ultimately passed. The SAN is always looking for opportunities to advance pro-hobby goals in each state. Please encourage others to get involved now by joining the SAN without cost or obligation.
Congratulations and thank you for your continued support—please share this exciting victory with others!
