Texas Single Plate Bill Dies as Legislature Adjourns

SAN-supported legislation (S.B. 2012) introduced in Texas that would have allowed the display of only a single, rear-mounted license plate on certain passenger vehicles died as the legislature adjourned. If passed, it would have provided an exemption to Texas’ current requirement of two license plates for vehicles unable to display a front plate. The bill passed the Senate but was not considered by the House Transportation Committee prior to adjournment.
 

While we are disappointed this bill did not become law, it advanced farther than in previous sessions. The SAN looks forward to pushing it across the finish line once the legislature reconvenes in 2023.
