Washington State Bills to Restrict Eligibility for Hobby Vehicle Registration Die as Legislature Adjourns

SAN-opposed legislation (H.B. 2373/S.B. 6156) introduced in Washington state to significantly restrict eligibility of collector vehicles and horseless carriages died as the legislature adjourned, marking a significant win for enthusiasts who objected to several provisions of the bills. The bills would have raised the age for vehicles to qualify as collector and horseless carriage vehicles, raised the initial registration fee for collector vehicles, and restricted the use of YOM plates. 

While the SAN did not support this legislation, pro-hobby language from a 2018 bill allowing for personalized plates was included in an amendment.
