North Carolina Bill to Expand Eligibility for Antique Vehicle Registration Sent to Governor

Overview: Legislation (H.B. 100) has been introduced that would lower the age of vehicles eligible for an antique registration plate to 30 years old. Current law only authorizes owners of vehicles that are at least 35 years from the date of manufacture. Owners with a vehicle 1943 model year or older will retain the option of choosing "Antique" or "Horseless Carriage" plates. The bill passed the North Carolina legislature and now goes to Governor Roy Cooper for approval.
