Maryland Bills Fail to Pass Before Legislative Deadline

Several bills introduced in Maryland in 2018 are now dead as they failed to pass before the legislative deadline.

  • Legislation (H.B. 434/S.B. 529) would have required new car dealers to provide purchasers a written statement informing them that it is illegal for manufacturers or dealers to void a warranty or deny coverage because aftermarket parts were installed or because someone other than the dealer performed service. The House bill (H.B. 434) passed the House Finance Committee, but failed to get a vote on the House Floor.

  • Legislation (S.B. 12) would have required the issuance of only a single license plate for all motor vehicles. The bill received an unfavorable report from the committee on Judicial Proceedings and was not reconsidered before the legislative deadline.

Thank you for voicing support for these bills.
