You may use the following points in your message:
- H.B. 1857 defines a “decorative plate” to mean a plate not issue by the Registry of Motor Vehicles and that is not intended for and cannot be mistaken as legal identification.
- H.B. 1857 would save money, conserve resources and bring Massachusetts in line with other states that have moved to a single plate option.
- H.B. 1857 would protect the aesthetic contours of collector cars and relieve vehicle owners of the burden of having to create mounting holes on some fabricated and original bumpers.
Overview: Legislation (H.B. 1857) has been introduced in Massachusetts to allow vehicle owners to choose whether or not to display a front license plate. The bill also gives the option of allowing owners to display a decorative plate to the front of a vehicle. The bill will be considered by the Massachusetts Joint Transportation Committee.
