West Virginia Legislature Adjourns
The West Virginia legislature failed to pass SAN-supported, pro-hobby legislation in 2022 prior to the adjournment of the session. To follow is a brief summary:
- Legislation (H.B. 2950) to create an "Antique Fleet" plate program whereby the owner of five or more antique vehicles would be able to use a single registration plate. The bill passed the House Technology and Infrastructure Committee but failed to advance from the House Government Organization Committee.
- Legislation (S.B. 467) to aid and incentivize the construction of motorsports complexes. The Senate Economic Development Committee failed to advance the bill.
- Legislation (H.B. 2935) to limit the assessed value of antique or classic cars. The House Political Subdivisions Committee failed to advance the bill.
- Legislation (H.B. 4078) to exempt any foreign-market vehicle that is 25 years or older from the state’s annual safety inspection if the vehicle has liability insurance. The House Technology and Infrastructure Committee failed to advance the bill.
- Legislation (H.B. 4064) to allow antique vehicle license plates for vehicles over 10,000 lbs. The bill passed the House of Representatives but failed to advance from the Senate Finance Committee.
- Legislation (S.B. 602) to protect motorsports venues which have been in operation for more than one year from nuisance claims. The Senate Judiciary Committee failed to advance the bill.
Thank you to everyone who voiced support for these bills.
