The Board of Supervisors of the County of York, Virginia issued a proclamation declaring July 13, 2013 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day” in the jurisdiction. Earlier this year, the U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 176 at the SEMA Action Network’s (SAN) request to acknowledge the day’s significance in raising awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society. The date marked the fourth commemoration in what has become an annual event. York County joined several states, counties and local areas all over the country that issued proclamations.
Thousands of Americans gathered at car cruises, parades and other events to celebrate our nation’s automotive heritage. By taking part in these events around the country, automotive enthusiasts and related businesses ensured that their passion was honored and recognized. Sponsored by the Classic Cruisers Car Club, a “Cruise In” at Heritage Square in Grafton was scheduled to mark the occasion and the club’s 20th anniversary of service to the community.
