Virginia Introduces Exhaust Noise Reform Legislation

DON’T DELAY!  Please contact lawmakers to request their support for this proposal:

Overview: Virginia has introduced SAN-supported legislation (S.B. 714) to reform the state’s existing exhaust noise laws in Loudoun, Prince William, Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Manassas and Manassas Park. The bill, which includes elements of SEMA’s model legislation, would implement a fair and objective method for determining compliance with the law.

SEMA’s model bill sets one exhaust noise limit (95 decibels) and uses an objective test procedure (SAE J1492) to determine compliance. This testing procedure provides a fair and reasonable working system. This SAE test is conducted in a controlled environment using objective methodology.
