Vermont Legislature Adjourns

A pair of SAN-supported bills, including a SEMA model bill, died as the Vermont legislature adjourned its 2019-2020 legislative session. To follow is a brief summary:

  • Legislation (H. 855) to require the display of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for all passenger cars and trucks with a registered weight of 10,000 pounds or less failed to pass the House Transportation Committee. Under current law vehicles must display two license plates.

  • SEMA model-legislation (H. 854) to create a fair testing procedure for vehicle owners accused of exhaust noise violations failed to pass the House Transportation Committee.

Thank you to everyone who voiced support for these bills.
