You may use the following points in your message:
- H.B. 502 would save money, conserve resources, and bring the state in line with other states that have moved to a single plate requirement.
- H.B. 502 would protect the aesthetic contours of cars and relieve vehicle owners of the burden of having to create mounting holes on original bumpers.
- H.B. 502 would accommodate classic and special-interest vehicles, many of which are not originally equipped with a designated place to display a front plate.
- H.B. 502 would allow greater performance and styling equipment options for automotive enthusiasts in the state and the industry supporting their hobby.
Overview: SAN-supported legislation (H.B. 502) has been introduced in Texas to require the display of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for all passenger vehicles with an additional $50 annual fee. Under current law vehicles must display two license plates. The bill currently awaits consideration in the House Transportation Committee, which is scheduled for a hearing on Wednesday, April 21.
