Oklahoma Legislature Adjourns
The Oklahoma legislature failed to pass SAN-supported legislation (S.B. 847) to ensure consumer choice of vehicle power plants and fuel by preventing a county or other local government in the state from limiting access to certain types of power sources. Under current law, sales of new gas- and diesel-powered vehicles may be threatened if narrow energy policies are adopted.
The SAN believes that Oklahoma residents, not the government, should decide what vehicles are best for them and their families. The bill passed both chambers of the Legislature, but the Conference Committee on Energy and Natural Resources failed to advance the bill prior to the adjournment of the session. This bill is eligible to be reconsidered during next year’s legislative session.
Thank you to everyone who voiced support for this effort.
