You may use the following points in your message:
- A. 4008 would save money, conserve resources, and bring the state in line with other states that have moved to a single plate requirement.
- A. 4008 would protect the aesthetic contours of cars and relieve vehicle owners of the burden of having to create mounting holes on original bumpers.
- A. 4008 would accommodate classic and special-interest vehicles, many of which are not originally equipped with a designated place to display a front plate.
- A. 4008 would allow greater performance and styling equipment options for automotive enthusiasts in the state and the industry supporting their hobby.
Overview: SAN-supported legislation (A. 4008) has been introduced in New York to require the display of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for all passenger vehicles with an additional fifty dollar fee. Under current law vehicles must display two license plates. The bill currently awaits consideration in the Assembly Transportation Committee.
