New Mexico Introduces Bill to Require Front and Rear Plates on All Vehicles
DON’T DELAY! Please contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee to Request their opposition to H.B. 158:
- H.B. 158 would increase costs, waste valuable resources and bring New Mexico in conflict with other states that are moving to a single plate requirement.
- H.B. 158 would fail to protect the aesthetic contours of collector cars and force vehicle owners to take on the burden and cost of having to create mounting holes on bumpers.
Overview: Legislation (H.B. 158) has been introduced to require registration plates on the front and back of all motor vehicles. Under current law, all motor vehicles in the state are only issued a single plate. The bill is currently in the House Judiciary Committee.
