New Mexico Bill to Require Front and Rear Plates on Vehicles Defeated

Legislation (H.B. 231) to require registration plates on the front and back of all motor vehicles died as the legislature adjourned. Under current law, all motor vehicles in the state are only issued a single plate. Because of a strong outpouring of enthusiast opposition to the measure, the bill failed to receive a vote on the House Floor. However, this bill may be reintroduced in the 2020 session—please encourage others to get involved now by signing-up for the SEMA Action Network (SAN) without cost or obligation.

Special thanks to those who participated in opposing this bill!
