Despite our best efforts, SEMA-supported Mississippi legislation that would have created a new titling and registration classification for replica motor vehicles was not given committee consideration this year before the legislative session concluded. The bill defined replica vehicles to include kit cars and vehicles assembled in whole or in part from new, used or remanufactured parts or components and vehicles which have undergone major modernization. The measure also exempted replica vehicles from the highway privilege tax and value-added property tax and provided for a one-time license fee of $50 for replica vehicles. We expect to work with the bill’s sponsor again next year to seek enactment of this bill.
