Maryland Bill to Allow Single License Plate for Hobby Cars Signed Into Law

URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT (UPDATE)

Maryland Bill to Allow Single License Plate for Hobby Cars Signed Into Law

Compromise legislation (H.B. 524) to allow the issuance of only a single license plate to historic vehicles and street rods was signed into law by Governor Larry Hogan.  Under the compromise bill, historic vehicles and street rods that are 50-years old and older are eligible to run a single plate.  While the amended bill is a diluted version of the original, it is still an improvement over current law.  The law goes into effect on October 1, 2015 and will protect the aesthetic contours of some collector cars and relieve vehicle owners of the burden of having to create mounting holes on some original bumpers.

Thank you to those that participated in supporting this bill.
