Iowa Introduces Bill to Allow for Window Tinting

DON’T DELAY!  Please contact the Transportation Subcommittee to request their support for S.F. 88:

You may use the following points in your message:

  • S.F. 88 allows for window tinting if it meets a minimum standard of thirty-five percent light transmittance.

  • S.F. 88 eliminates the vague statute “excessively dark or reflective” in favor of a clear technical window tinting standard.

Overview: Legislation (S.F. 88) was introduced to allow for window tinting if it meets a minimum standard of thirty-five percent light transmittance. SEMA supports advancement of the industry standard of not less than 35% light transmittance on all windows other than the windshield. A similar bill was considered but failed to be passed during last year’s legislative session. The bill has been introduced and referred to a Transportation Subcommittee.
