URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT
Idaho Bill to Increase Registration Fees Approved by Legislature; Moves to Governor
Under an agreement reached by the House and Senate, legislation (H.B. 312) that threatened to increase annual registration fees by $25 for all motor vehicles was reduced to $21 and sent to the governor for his signature and enactment into law. Originally passed by the House as a $15 increase, the bill was amended and passed by the Senate as a $25 increase. Registration fees for vehicles of all types and ages would be raised by $21.
We Urge You to Contact Governor Butch Otter (List Below) Immediately to Request Opposition to H.B. 312
- Under H.B. 312, the following rate increases would apply:
Vehicles one (1) and two (2) years old ..................... $
4869.00
Vehicles three (3) and four (4) years old ................... $3657.00
Vehicles five (5) and six (6) years old ..................... $3657.00
Vehicles seven (7) and eight (8) years old ..................$2445.00
Vehicles over eight (8) years old ........................ $2445.00 - H.B. 312 still imposes a substantial registration fee increase. Especially, for owners of multiple vehicles, these costs could become prohibitive.
- H.B. 312 still makes no special exception for hobby cars such as kits, classics, old timers, reconstructed, replica, specially constructed and street rods that constitute a small portion of the vehicle fleet, are infrequently operated and deserving of lower registration fees.
DON’T DELAY! Please contact Governor Butch Otter immediately to request opposition to H.B. 312.
Please e-mail a copy of your letter to Steve McDonald at stevem@sema.org. Also, please forward this Alert to your fellow car enthusiasts. Urge them to join the SAN and help defend the hobby! Thank you for your assistance.
