6th Annual Collector Car Appreciation Day to be Celebrated July 10, 2015

"The SEMA Action Network (SAN) announced that the next Collector Car Appreciation Day will be celebrated on July 10, 2015. The date will mark the sixth consecutive commemoration in what is now an annual event to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society. A brief recap of the 2014 festivities is highlighted in the current issue of Driving Force.

"With the 2014 celebration now behind us, car enthusiasts and related businesses can begin planning open houses, car cruises, club gatherings and educational events to mark the 2015 commemoration," said President of Government Affairs Steve McDonald. "The passion for the collector car hobby that continues to be demonstrated by SAN members nationwide is most clearly evident in this special day."

SEMA SAN Strike Force

Long-time hot rodder Scott Wolynetz has driven this small block Chevy-powered, chopped 3-window '32 over 15,000 miles in just five years! With obvious nods to John Milner's Deuce coupe from the film American Graffiti, the car has been seen on the streets of Delaware in several configurations. Scott proudly exclaims that its appearance can “go from ‘Graffiti' to ZZ Top's ‘Eliminator' just by changing the wheels, fenders and hood!"

Newark, Delaware, isn't known for having perfect cruising weather throughout the year. Thankfully, the climate hasn't stopped Scott Wolynetz and his family from building and driving their dream machines. The Wolynetz clan counts two Chevy Monte Carlos and a hot rod Deuce in their collection. Of note, the supercharged powerplant shown above has made its way into all three vehicles. Their '70 Monte Carlo was actually Scott's very first car, purchased in 1982. In fact, he met his future wife while cruising in it on Newark's Main Street!

The Wolynetz family is now turning automotive passion into car show coordination after years of involvement. In forming an events company, the couple are hoping to one day turn their hobby into a full-time endeavor. “She looks at passing out flyers as exercise,” Scott jokingly remarks. In connection with the celebration of Collector Car Appreciation Day, they hosted the Peoples Plaza Car Show in their hometown of Newark earlier this year. Proud SAN members as well, materials promoting the cause are distributed at their events. Catch the Delaware Park Car Show if you plan to be in the Wilmington area on Saturday, October 25th. Check out the show's flyer at this link for all the details. On behalf of the SAN, ask for one of the Wolynetzs and thank them for promoting our hobby's rich traditions!
