Michigan Introduces Bill to Allow for Window Tinting

  • H.B. 5634 amends the current Michigan Vehicle Code to remove the prohibition of operating a motor vehicle with a sign, poster, nontransparent material, window application reflective film, or nonreflective film.

     

Overview: Legislation (H.B. 5634) allows for the tinting and application of non-transparent materials on vehicle windows. SEMA supports the advancement of the industry standard of not less than 35% light transmittance on all windows other than the windshield. The bill has been introduced and referred the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
