UPDATE: Delaware Bill to Ease Street Rod Registration Passes Committee; Moves to Senate Floor for Final Vote

  • H.B. 31 changes the “street rod” definition from vehicles manufactured pre-1970 to vehicles 25 years old or older to be in line with the same age requirements used for antique motor vehicles.
     
  • H.B. 31 removes the requirement that a street rod’s tires must be covered by a fender recognizing that historically street rods are often open-wheeled vehicles.
     
  • H.B. 31 exempts street rods from any equipment requirements that were not a condition of sale when the vehicle was manufactured.
     

Overview: Legislation (H.B. 31) that would ease the process of registering a street rod in Delaware by changing age and equipment requirements passed the Delaware House. The bill passed the Senate Transportation Committee and will now be up for a final vote on the Senate floor.
